About
Experience Healing Through Connection and Understanding
Born 2 Connect EFT is a private-practice therapy provider owned and run by Michelle Fowler, LPC.
Treatment with Born 2 Connect EFT is based on attachment theory. When we respond to our emotional cues, and at least one other significant person in our lives responds, we experience reduced emotional distress. Research shows that strong attachments are a basic biological need, like air, food, and water. When that emotional system is either over or under responding it can disrupt our lives and damage our relationships. This can result in feelings of anxiety, depression, and loneliness.
Process of Couple's Therapy
Steps for Couple's Therapy
- 1
Reach out and schedule an intake session or a consultation call. This consultation may be about 15 minutes to get a general idea of your concerns and purpose for wanting to start therapy at this time.
- 2
Schedule the intake session where both partners are present. During this session the assessment phase begins where we work on understanding what gets in the way of your effective vulnerable communication.
- 3
Next, each partner has an individual assessment session to better understand their goals for therapy, potential wounds, and possible challenges for therapy that may need additional support. This may include: addictive behaviors, substances, past traumas, abuse, untreated medical issues, etc. As part of the assessment, we look to understand the "attachment climate" you both grew up in and how you learned to deal with stress in relationships. Secrets are obstacles to progress and the therapist works to create a safe space for honesty.
